Emily Kroshus Sets New Princeton Mark At Mt. SAC Relays

Walnut, Calif. - Junior Emily Kroshus set a Princeton record in 10,000 meters with Thursday night's time of 34:19.54 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Kroshus was one of three Princeton tracksters to meet NCAA qualifying times at the meet.
Senior Jon Bell placed fourth in the 5,000-meter race and easily qualified for the NCAA regional meet with his time of 14:05.55. Sean Jefferson of Indiana won the race in 13:58.53.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, freshman Meredith Lambert took silver and also met NCAA qualifying standards with a time of 16:50.76. Tracie Akerheilm of Texas Tech finished 2.42 seconds ahead of Lambert to take gold.
In the pole vault, Chelo Canino finished 10th overall with a height of 11-06.
Kroshus' mark broke the old 10,000-meter record of 34:53.32 set by Kristin Beaney in 1994.
Bell, Kroshus and Lambert return to the East Coast and join the Tigers as they compete on Saturday, April 19. The men's team hosts Iona, Manhattan and Rutgers while the women race at the Lafayette Invitational in Easton, Pa.
