No. 1 Princeton Maintains Dominance Of No. 2 Radcliffe, Wins Third Meeting
April 19, 2003 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
April 19, 2003
PRINCETON, N.J. - Radcliffe came to Lake Carnegie with the No. 2-ranked women's lightweight crew, and nothing happened Saturday afternoon to change that status. For the third time in three meetings, the No. 1 Princeton crew topped Radcliffe in the varsity eight race to maintain its top ranking. The four-time defending national champion gave itself some extra breathing room this week, winning by 1.46 seconds. Last week, at the Knecht Cup on Cooper River, Princeton topped Radcliffe but .4 of a second.
Princeton won all three races of the day. The novice four topped MIT in a time of 8:31.7, while both the Princeton varsity four 'A' boat (8:02.1) and the 'B' boat (8:08.24) defeated Radcliffe.
The big race was the closest of the day, with Princeton crossing the finish line first in 7:12.8. Radcliffe was second in 7:14.26.
Princeton is off next weekend and will face Brown and Yale on May 3 at Lake Carnegie.
