Women's Tennis Opens Ivy Season With Win

New York, N.Y. - The Princeton women's tennis team opened the 2003 Ivy League portion of its spring schedule with a 4-3 win at Columbia Friday afternoon. The Tigers won the doubles point and the first three singles matches to clinch their eighth win of the season.
The day began with Princeton claiming the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. The team of Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Neha Uberoi earned an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot, while the duo of Stephanie Berg and Alex Kobishyn won 8-0 at No. 3.
In the singles portion of the match, Princeton's top three players earned wins to seal the Tiger win. Krishnamurthy won in straight sets at No. 1, while No. 52 Uberoi earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Princeton's final win of the afternoon came from Alison Hashmall at No. 3 after winning a second-set tiebreaker. Princeton returns to the court tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. when it meets No. 41 Penn in Philadelphia.
