Softball Begins NCAA Tourney In Tucson

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton softball team will travel to Tucson, Arizona, home of top-seeded Arizona (50-5), for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Division I Women's Softball Committee.
The Tigers begin their regional playoffs this Thursday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m. against South Carolina (38-18). Princeton (24-19-1) earned a No. 7 seed while South Carolina is seeded second behind Arizona. The other games in Tucson feature Minnesota (No. 4) vs. Cal State - Northridge (No. 5), Texas A&M (No.3) vs. Boston College (No. 6), and Arizona (No. 1) vs. Colorado State (No. 8).
The winner of Princeton vs. South Carolina plays Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Texas A&M vs. Boston College, which plays in the 2 p.m. slot on Thursday. The losers of each of these games face each other at 9 a.m. on Friday. Games continue throughout Friday and Saturday with the regional championship game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
This year's tournament includes a 64-team bracket with eight teams participating at each of eight pre-determined sites. The regionals and the proceeding World Series, held May 22-26 at the ASA Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, are both double-elimination tournaments.
