Women's Basketball Tigers Return To Court Tuesday At Colgate

Princeton, N.J. - The women's hoops team travels to Colgate for a Tuesday night matchup and its first game in 18 days after a study and exam break. Colgate, Princeton's last non-conference opponent of the regular season, is 10-7 and comes off an 80-57 thrashing of Navy on Sunday.
The game begins at 7 p.m. at Colgate's Cotterell Court and can be heard on the Raiders' internet broadcast at www.gocolgateraiders.com.

Princeton vs. Colgate - Jan. 27, 2004 - 7 p.m.
The History Book - The Tigers and Raiders have met just once, a 73-52 Princeton win in the 1987 season.
Last Chance - This is Princeton's last non-conference game of the regular season. After Colgate, the remaining 13 games are all Ivy League contests.
Rested Legs - Princeton has not played a game in 18 days, dating back to a 65-54 loss at Penn in the Ivy League season-opener on Jan. 9, 2004. Its most recent win was a 66-60 home contest against Lafayette. Before then, the Tigers lost four straight against two ACC teams (Wake Forest and Georgia Tech) and two nationally recognized teams (Montana and Idaho).
Tired Legs - Colgate has played four more games than Princeton, including five games while the Tigers were on their study break. Its past five games were all Patriot League contests in which the Raiders went 3-2. Homesick -Princeton is winless (0-5) on the road this season, including four non-conference losses in its opponents' gyms. Colgate is 6-2 at Cotterell Court with four non-conference wins in its home gym.
Battle of the Boards - The Tigers outrebound their opponents by an average of 2.2 boards per game, grabbing 38.5 rebounds while giving up 36.3 per game. But give Colgate the edge on the boards for this matchup, as the Raiders pull down 39.6 rebounds per game.
Defense Wins? - Princeton allows its opponents just 62.1 points per game, which is 10.6 points below Colgate's scoring average (72.7 points per game). The Tigers are second in the Ivy League for scoring defense.
Sloppy 'Gate - Colgate has forced its opponents into 22.3 turnovers per game but the Raiders play a sloppy game as well with 18.7 turnovers per game. Princeton falls in between the two with 19.2 turnovers per game.
Scoring Threat - Junior Emily Braseth has led Colgate in scoring for eight straight games and 10 of 17 games. She averages 18.1 points per game off 52% field goal shooting.
All-Around Threat - Braseth also leads the Raiders in rebounds (7.5 per game) and adds 2.6 assists per game.
More Offense - Malissa Burke and Molly Patterson add double-figure scoring to the Colgate offense with 13.1 and 11.6 points per game. Patterson has a team-high 26 three-pointers off 78 attempts (33%) while Burke and Meghan Curtin each have 24 three-pointers. Patterson and Burke lead Colgate with 3.6 and 3.2 assists per game.
Solid Two - Chigozie Ozor and Leandra Fuller round out the starting lineup with Braseth, Burke and Patterson. Ozor adds 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a team-high 3.1 steals per game while Fuller chips in 5.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
The Power of Youth - Freshmen Katy Digovich and Casey Lockwood and sophomores Becky Brown and Katy O'Brien form the core of the Princeton team as the consistent starters and statistical leaders. The Tigers, who are 12-deep, have just two seniors and no juniors.
Becky's Back - After leading the Tigers in scoring and rebounding last season, Brown has a team-high 12.0 points per game this year. She is shooting 50% from the floor - including 7-for-9 shooting at Montana - good for fourth in the league,
Using Time Wisely - Brown averages just 20.0 minutes per game but is still the team's top scorer and third-highest rebounder with 5.3 per game. She also has a team-high 10 blocks.
True Point Guard - O'Brien has started at point guard in all 13 games, making her one of just two Tigers (Lockwood is the other) to start every game. She is the team's backbone with 9.9 points, 3.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. O'Brien holds the team's season-high in assists (seven), which came against Georgia Tech.
Long Range - O'Brien is shooting 47% (35 for 75) from three-point range, the best percentage on Princeton and second-highest in the Ivy League. She has made at least four three-pointers in five different games, including a season-high five threes in eight attempts against Georgia Tech.
Rookie Time -Digovich and Lockwood lead Princeton in minutes played at 33.1 and 31.6 per game. Three other freshmen - Shelly Slemp, Elyse Umeda and Kelli Hughes - each average over 13 minutes per game.
Sharing the Wealth - Five different Tigers have been the team's leading scorer in at least one game apiece. Brown, O'Brien and Digovich each had four performances as the leading scorer.
The 20 Club - Princeton has had a player score 20 points only three times this season and each time was by a different player. Lockwood scored 20 in the season-opener, Brown had 20 in the second game of the year and Digovich scored 20 at Penn.
Silver Medal - Digovich is second in points (11.6), rebounds (6.2) and assists (2.4) per game, as well as in field goals (3.7), three-point field goals (1.3) and free throws (2.9) made per game.
On the Line - Lockwood is Princeton's top free-throw shooter, hitting 35 of 46 (.761) shots from the charity stripe including a 6-for-6 performance against Wagner. Digovich is shooting 69% with a 10-for-13 night against Lafayette and 7-for-8 shooting against Louisville.
Injured List - The Tigers have their full roster with no injuries. Mary Cate Opila is back after missing five games with a concussion and Hughes is cleared to play after sitting out six games with a knee injury.
Proud Crowds - Princeton has played in front of over 2,000 fans three times this season, including 3,409 fans against Montana in Dahlberg Arena.
Looking Ahead - Three high school seniors committed early decision to Princeton. Meagan Cowher (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Ali Prichard (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Ariel Rogers (Evanston, Ill.) join the Tigers in 2004-05.
