Penn quarterback Mike Loguidice threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns and the Quakers scored four unanswered second-half touchdowns in a 49-8 win over Princeton in a sprint football game played in front of 325 Friday night in Princeton.
The win improved Penn to 2-0, while Princeton fell to 0-2. The Tigers are at Army next Friday night.
Penn scored the first 22 points of the night before Princeton quarterback Dennis Bakke threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Lon Johnson late in the second quarter. Bakke then completed a two-point conversion attempt to Matt Worley, and the Tigers trailed 22-8 at intermission.
Princeton had the ball first in the second half but could not move, and Penn then scored two touchdowns seven seconds apart to break the game open. The Quakers completed a nine-play, 86-yard drive with a 43-yard touchdown pass from Loguidice to David Derr to make it 29-8, and Kale Roth intercepted a pass on the first play after the kickoff and returned it 23 yards for another score to make it 36-8.
Bakke led Princeton with 51 yards rushing, and he also threw for 142 yards. Johnson, a freshman, caught three passes for 100 yards.
Zach McKinney, Jesse Reidel and Adam Levyn tied for the team lead with eight tackles each.
