QUEENS, N.Y. - Darius Craton led four Princeton singles winners with a victory at No. 1 and the fourth-seeded Tigers swept the doubles point as Princeton defeated No. 13 seed Boston College, 5-2, in the first round of the ECAC Division I Men's Tennis Invitational at the USTA National Tennis Center Friday morning.
The No. 4 seed Tigers will next play No. 5 seed Yale, a 6-1 win over Stony Brook in Friday's first round, in a Saturday quarterfinal match.
Craton won 7-5 and 6-3 for Princeton at No. 1 singles, then joined with Josh Burman to win a rout at No. 1 doubles by an 8-0 score. Burman also won at No. 5 singles by a 6-4, 6-2 score.
Sratha Saengsuwarn (at No. 2) and Ashwat Sarohia (at No. 4) also won in straight sets in singles for Princeton. Those two combined to win at No. 2 doubles, while Andrew Lieu and Hans Plukas won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Play at the ECAC Invitational continues through Monday's championship match and consolation finals.
