The Princeton men's soccer team finally broke out of its scoreless slump and got itself a huge Ivy League win in the process, thanks largely to the play of junior midfielder Ben Young.
Young was named Ivy League Player of the Week for men's soccer today after scoring the equalizing goal in the 62nd minute and assisting on the game-winner in the 72nd minute as the Tigers picked up a 3-2 win over No. 21 Brown on Saturday.
It was Young's first goal of the season and second of his career. He also has three assists this season to make him Princeton's fourth leading scorer.
Princeton is now 5-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the Ivy League. Junior Adrian Melville's goal in the 51st minute against the Bears snapped a scoreless streak of 298 minutes, 50 seconds for Princeton, which dated back to the second half of a 4-1 win at Wofford on Sept. 26.
The Tigers' next contest is a non-conference affair Tuesday afternoon at Seton Hall. They return to Ivy League play Saturday at Columbia.
