Trina Salcido Named Assistant Softball Coach

Trina Salcido was announced as the new softball assistant coach by Head Coach Maureen Barron for the upcoming 2004-05 season.
"We are thrilled to have Trina on staff," said Barron. "She brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience. Trina was a terrific Division I player and has had great success on the field as a coach at all levels of the game. She is passionate about the game of softball and will be a tremendous addition to our program."
The 2003 Sacramento Bee Coach of the Year, Salcido comes to Princeton after leading El Camino High School's girl's varsity softball team to three consecutive league championships, including back-to-back CAL-League championships and a 2003 San Juaquin section championship. During the summer of 2003, Salicido earned an assistant coaching role with the National Pro Fast Pitch All-Star Tour Team, where she was responsible for the instruction of hitting and physical conditioning. Prior to her first head coaching reins at El Camino High School in 2001, Salcido was the assistant coach/strength and conditioning coach at Sacramento City College. During her two-year tenure she worked one-on-one with the team as the hitting instructor and outlined conditioning regimens for the team.
Along with teaching both history and Spanish and instructing physical education classes on the high school level, Salcido has worked on various volunteer projects, including the Sports Camp Mission Project in Roatan, Honduras entitled Footsteps Missions Organization during the summer of 2000.
Salcido was a four-year starter at third base at Oregon from 1993-1996. As a Duck, she was an honorable mention All-Pac-10 selection her sophomore campaign and a first-team All-Region pick as a freshman. She was named to the University of Oregon Female All-Decade team on April 2, 1996. She earned her B.S. in General Science and is a Certified Fitness Trainer.
