Princeton, N.J. - Junior Darren Spicer was named Player of the Year and was one of eight Tigers honored by the Ivy League on Tuesday. Senior Ryan Rich earned All-Ivy second team, while honorable mention accolades were presented to seniors Doug Hare and Erik White, juniors Neil Chaudhuri, Adrian Melville and Ben Young and sophomore Jame Wunsch. Spicer, who started all 17 games as a junior, led the Ivy League in both points (25) and goals (12). In the 4-1 win over Wofford, Spicer netted three of the goals. Tied for second in the league, he tallied three game-winning shots, including the 1-0 shutout over Columbia on Oct. 16th.
Rich added his name to the NCAA record books after he scored this second goal of the season nine seconds into the Princeton-Yale game. He tied the fastest goal scored into a game, which was last set by Alecko Eskandarian during the Virginia-American contest on Oct. 26, 2002.
In 13 starts, Melville was second on the team in scoring with 15 points off six goals and three assists. He also scored the game-winner against Fairleigh Dickinson, this season.
Young and Rich recorded the team-best five assists and both added two goals for nine points a piece. Young netted the game-winner against Penn.
Hare started in 16 contests as a key defender. His lone point on the season was the assist behind Spicer's second goal against Wofford.
Wunsch scored a goal in back-to-back games while in Wofford N.C. His game-winner against Wofford secured the 4-1 win.
Chaudhuri started all 17 games this season and helped anchor a defense that secured a league-leading six shutouts.
White compiled 63 saves, including 10 in the season's finale with Yale. His tenth-career shutout tied Gaetano P Cipriano's (1977) season record as the fourth-best number of season shutouts in program history.
Princeton finished the season with an 8-5-4 overall record and 3-2-2 in the league.
