Garnaas, Spicer Named District II First-Team Academic All-America

Princeton soccer players Maija Garnaas and Darren Spicer have been named CoSIDA District II first-team Academic All-Americas. For Garnaas, it marked the second straight season that she was honored as a first-team selection.
Romy Trigg-Smith was a second-team pick. All three players are juniors.
Garnaas, a molecular biology major, has played in every game in the midfield for the 14-2 Tigers, who won the Ivy League championship and are ranked 12th in Division I this week. Princeton finishes the regular season Saturday night against Penn and then plays in the NCAA tournament next week.
Trigg-Smith is an architecture major. She has played every minute of every game on defense for the Tigers.
Spicer, a politics major, is the leading scorer in the Ivy League with nearly twice as many goals as the second highest player in the league (12-7). He also leads the league with 25 points, 10 more than the next best total.
He is sixth in Division I in goals per game and 11th all-time at Princeton with 19 caerer goals. He has scored 44% of Princeton's goals this season.
