Women's Fencer Wins National Championship

Princeton, N.J. - Jacqueline Leahy won the women's foil national title in a field of 170 competitors at the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships held in Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 13-16. Leahy, a sophomore from Aurora, Colo., was ranked second in the nation in her weapon before this event.
Leahy was named to the Ivy League Fencing Honor Roll earlier this season when she won all nine of her bouts as the Tigers defeated St. Johns 15-12 and Rutgers 19-8 and fell to Columbia 11-16. The foil squad leader, Leahy defeated former national team member Cassidy Luitjen from Columbia.
