Kroshus Finishes Seventh in NCAA 5,000 Meters

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Emily Kroshus continued her superb senior season by finishing seventh overall in the 5,000-meter race at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track Championships at the University of Arkansas Friday night.
Kroshus' time of 16:08.17 was just over eight seconds out of fourth place in the event. The senior from Calgary, Alberta, also earned All-America honors in cross country in the fall by finishing in the top 10 nationally in that race.
Providence's Kim Smith set an NCAA record by winning the race in 15:14.18, more than three seconds better than the previous collegiate record and more than 25 seconds better than the previous best at an NCAA championship meet.
Princeton's Cack Ferrell will participate in the 3,000 meters for the Tigers on Saturday night.
