MALIBU, Calif. - The 20th-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team earned its 11th victory of the season Sunday afternoon when it defeated Princeton 7-0.
The Waves won the top four spots in straight sets beginning with No. 45 Calle Hansen who beat Darius Craton (6-2, 6-0) at the No. 1 singles position. No. 26 Pedro Rico upended Daniel Friedman with ease (6-1, 6-0) and the Waves' Scott Doerner took care of Andrew Lieu, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3. The final straight-set victory was recorded by Alexis Rafidison with a 6-1, 6-2, win against Sratha Saengsuwarn at the No. 4 position. Pepperdine's Richard Johnson and Justin Montgomery earned thrilling victories at the bottom of the lineup over Hans Plukas (3-6, 6-0, 10-3) and Tim Koful (7-5, 3-6, 10-4), respectively. Pepperdine earned the doubles point with three consecutive wins. At the top, the No. 8 duo with Rico and Hansen tallied an 8-3 victory over Friedman and Craton. No. 45 Alexandre Herrera and Doerner beat Kofol and Saengsuwarn (8-4) and Kevin Borzenski and Johnson earned a point at the third doubles spot with an 8-4 win against Lieu and Hans Plukas.
