Finley's Second Homer Leads Softball To 3-2 Upset Of Pacific

Fullerton, Calif. - Melissa Finley hit a three-run homer to lead the Princeton softball team past No. 13 Pacific in the opening game of the Kia Klassic at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Softball Complex. Princeton improved to 7-4 overall as Erin Snyder earned her fifth win on the mound.
"Great pitching and timely hitting won the game for us," head coach Maureen Barron said. "We played with great composure in pressure situations."
In the third, Wendy Bingham walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice by Kristin Lueke and moved into scoring position on a Stephanie Steel infield single. Finley capitalized with a three-run homer, her second home run of the season. The Tigers led 3-0 after three.
Pacific rallied late with one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings. First, Michelle Anunciation singled, advanced to second on an overthrow and scored on a single by Ashlie D'Errico. Pacific also scored in the seventh when Brandi Gordon tripled to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly.
Snyder had four strikeouts in seven innings while Natalie King took the loss for Pacific.
Princeton plays against Texas A&M tomorrow, Thursday March 18 at 5 p.m. (PT) as Kia Klassic action continues at Cal State Fullerton.
