Princeton's two hits came off relief pitcher Heather Bobbitt in the seventh when Runyan and Stephanie Steel each singled. Erin Snyder took the loss for the Tigers, allowing two runs in the first inning before Melissa Finley relieved her for the next three. Runyan pitched the final two innings for Princeton, which gave up 12 total hits. Louisiana-Lafayette scored two runs off three hits in the first. Hillary Guidry singled to second base and Holly Tankersley doubled before an Ashley Evans' single to right center scored them both. The Ragin' Cajuns led 2-0 after one.
In the fifth, Guidry reached on an error, stole second and scored when Danyele Gomez doubled to right center, also scoring Tankersley, who walked. Evans, who finished 2 for 3 with two RBI, then singled to centerfield and came home when catcher Joy Webre homered to left field for a 4-0 Louisiana-Lafayette lead. Before the end of the inning, Steel made the play from centerfield to home where catcher Ty Ries tagged out Gomez.
Louisiana-Lafayette scored its final run in the sixth when pinch hitter Tiffany Grayson singled through the left side to send home Tankersley, who walked.
Princeton plays its final game of the Kia Klassic tomorrow, Saturday March 20 at 3 p.m. The Tigers, who went 1-3 in the first three days of the tournament, face UNLV in the consolation bracket.
