Tigers Defeat Rutgers in Women's Tennis, 5-2

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Princeton women's tennis team won five of six singles matches, including three-set matches at the Nos. 1 and 4 positions, as the Tigers defeated local rival Rutgers 5-2 in Piscataway Wednesday afternoon. Princeton improves to 3-8 on the spring season with the victory.
Rutgers (6-5) took the doubles point to take the early lead in the match, but the Tigers were much stronger in singles play. Princeton players won five sets of 6-0 and two of 6-1, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 by Rankin Williams.
Darcy Robertson lost to the first set to Andrea Weckstein at No. 1, but stormed back to win the final two sets 6-0 and 6-1. Laura Trimble lost a tough first set in a tiebreak to Jill Markowitz at No. 4, but came back in similar fashion to win the match by losing just one game in the final two sets. Alison Hashmall, at No. 3, and Jackie Arcario, at No. 5, each won in straight sets for the Tigers, who host Temple at the Lenz Center Saturday afternoon.
