Baseball Drops Midweek Game at Rutgers

Piscataway, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team fell 15-6 to Rutgers Thursday afternoon in a non-conference game at Rutgers' Class of '53 Complex. Tim Lahey hit a home run and a double and had two RBIs as Princeton fell to 14-13 on the season after its first midweek game since returning from Sprng Break.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Princeton added a pair of runs in the third to take an early 2-1 lead. Rutgers bounced back with a six-run third to take a 7-2 lead that the Scarlet Knights would not relinquish.
Four Tigers posted multiple hits as Princeton strung together 15 hits on the afternoon, just one shy of Rutgers' 16 hits. Andrew Salini had a game-high three hits for Princeton and Lahey, Will Venable and Eric Fitzgerald each added a pair of hits. Lahey led Princeton with two RBIs as he doubled home a run in the third and hit his second homerun of the season in the fifth.
Aaron Herr got the start for the Tigers and fell to 0-2 as he allowed six runs in the first two an a third inning. Wills Sweney, Michael Zaret, Brian Biegen and Brian Kappel all pitched in relief.
The Tigers return to action this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Columbia as Princeton begins Gehrig Division play.
