Women's Tennis Gets Big Win over No. 68 Dartmouth, 5-2

The Princeton women's tennis team used strong play at the bottom of the singles lineup and a key three-set victory at No. 2 singles by Alison Hashmall on the way to a 5-2 victory over 68th-ranked Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
Princeton improves to 6-11 overall on the season and 2-3 in Ivy League play.
The Tigers won the doubles point with victories by Alex Kobishyn and Avantika Bhargava at No. 1 and Mateya McCoy and Darcy Robertson at No. 2. Then, No. 4 Stephanie Berg and No. 5 Laura Trimble won easily in straight sets, leaving Princeton one match away from clinching. Princeton would come back in two different singles matches to earn their fourth and fifth points of the day. No. 6 Rankin Williams lost the first set to Ann Scott but rallied to take the second set in a tiebreak and win the third set, 6-3. Hashmall also lost the first set of her match 6-4, to Dartmouth's Catherine Crandall, but came back to win the match, losing just five games in the final two sets.
Jayme Ahmed won for Dartmouth at No. 1 singles over Princeton's Robertson, while Lindsay Winingham was the Big Green's other singles winner, at No. 3.
The Tigers conclude the regular season next weekend, visiting Cornell Friday before hosting Columbia Sunday afternoon.
