Varner Named Ivy League Softball Rookie Of The Week; Snyder Named To Honor Roll

Princeton, N.J. - Freshman Calli Varner was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after recording a career-high 10 strikeouts in a 1-0 win at Towson for her fourth win and second shutout of the year. She also relieved Melissa Finley in the sixth inning of Princeton's 5-3 win over Yale, when she fanned three batters.
Varner allowed no runs and gave up just four hits and two walks in her two appearances this week. She is 4-0 on the mound this year.
Sophomore ace Erin Snyder was also honored by the conference, earning Honor Roll status for striking out 18 batters in three games this week. She had four strikeouts in the first two innings at Towson, pitched all seven innings in the Tigers' 2-1 win over Brown and had 11 strikeouts in the first game against Yale.
Snyder gave up an average of just two hits per game this week as she improved her ERA from 1.61 to 1.51.
