The two preeminent powers in Ivy League women's lacrosse meet Saturday at Class of 1952 Stadium as top-ranked Princeton and No. 12 Dartmouth play with the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth on the line. Game time is 3 p.m., and the game can be heard live on the internet at goprincetontigers.com.
Princeton is a perfect 5-0 in Ivy League play (and 13-0 overall) after last week's win at Harvard, Dartmouth, 9-2 overall, is an unblemished 6-0 in the league after a win over the Crimson Wednesday. Dartmouth clinches both the outright league title and the automatic NCAA berth with a win Saturday, while a Princeton win would clinch the automatic bid but just a share of the league title. The Tigers play at Brown to conclude their regular season May 1.
Either Princeton or Dartmouth, or both, has won the Ivy League title in each of the past 12 seasons including this year. The Tigers have won the last two meetings; prior to that, Dartmouth had won five straight regular-season games between the teams.
The Tigers have won 22 straight games since losing at Yale last April and have been simply dominant over the past three weeks, outscoring their opponents 90-38 in their last six games. Dartmouth has won seven straight games since falling to now-No. 2 Maryland in March.
Princeton won at Dartmouth last year, 10-9, when Leigh Slonaker scored the game winner with less than a minute remaining. Today's Note of the Day
