Women's Golf Assigned to NCAA Central Regional at Illinois State

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's golf team was one of 21 schools assigned to compete at the the 2004 NCAA Central Regional Golf Tournament, hosted by Illinois State May 5-8 at the Illinois State University Golf Course. Of the 21 teams and three individuals playing at the tournament, eight teams and the top two individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the NCAA Finals with the East and West Regional qualfiers at Auburn, May 20-22.
The Regional is led by defending national champion Southern California and the nations third and fourth seeds, Vanderbilt and New Mexico. The NCAA Committee seeded 15 teams nationally and sent five to each of the three regionals. Along with Vanderbilt and New Mexico, two-time former NCAA Champion Arizona (#9), USC (#10) and Oklahoma (#15) all will be in the regional.
Princeton qualified for the NCAA Tournament two weeks ago when it captured the Ivy League Championship at the Trenton Country Club. Princeton last competed as a team at the NCAA Regionals in 2001 when the Tigers were also sent to the Central Regional, that year hosted by Purdue. Junior Avery Kiser, the three-time defending Ivy League individual champion competed as an individual last season in the East Regional. The complete list of teams competing with the Tigers is below.
