Heavyweight Crew Retains Logg Cup With Win In Home Opener

PRINCETON - The Princeton heavyweight crew, ranked No. 3 in the national preseason poll, retained the Logg Cup Saturday morning by topping Rutgers on Lake Carnegie in the Tigers' home opener. Princeton took all four eight-man races against the Scarlet Knights.
Princeton (3-1) easily claimed the top race, finishing more than 10 seconds earlier than Rutgers. Both novice boats also claimed easy wins, while the second varsity boat won the closest of the four races. The Tigers came in at 6:14.8 in that race, while Rutgers finished in 6:18.1.
Princeton will look to claim the historic Childs Cup next weekend against Penn and Columbia in New York City.
