Ries Named To Academic All-District Softball Team

Princeton, N.J. - Junior catcher Ty Ries has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II Team for the 2004 softball season. Ries, a co-captain, started 46 games at catcher and is a Politics major at Princeton.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.
Ries, a native of Madison Lake, Minnesota, was the only catcher selected to the team, which also consists of three outfielders, six infielders, three pitchers and a designated player. The district selections now move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
The District II University Division consists of all Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
