Men's Water Polo Dominates In Day Two Of Home Tournament

Princeton, N.J. - Nicholas Seaver's five goals propelled the men's water polo team to an 11-6 win over Brown in the Tigers' third game of the Princeton Invitational Tournament. Princeton blanked Fordham 14-0 earlier in the day to improve to 3-0 this season.
In the nightcap, Princeton led 3-1 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime, and outscored the Bears 2-1 in each of the final two periods. Brown picked up its aggressiveness in the final quarter but Peter Sabbatini made four late saves and finished with seven on the night.
John Stover had two goals, a team-high five assists and two steals while Chris Kelsch added two goals and Zach Beckmann and Jamal Motlagh chipped in one apiece.
Princeton started the day with a 14-0 rout of Fordham in which 10 different Tigers scored. Beckmann and Jacob Harter each scored in the first quarter for a quick 5-0 Princeton advantage, and the Tigers led 9-0 at halftime.
Harter, Victor Wakefield, T.J. Edwards and Jason Diggs each scored two goals apiece while freshman goalkeeper Scott Syverson earned the shutout in his first collegiate start.
Wakefield and Eric Murphy led the defense with three steals each and Edwards made two field blocks for the Tigers, who finished 5 for 8 on their man-up situations.
The Tigers meet St. Francis, the top-ranked team in the CWPA above Navy and Princeton, at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday Sept. 12 in their final game of the Princeton Invitational. They will then play George Washington in a league game at 2 p.m.
