Philadelphia - Adrian Melville scored in the 17th minute and junior defender Marc DuBois scored his first career goal with 18 minutes remaining to lead the Princeton men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on the opening day of games at the Penn Invitational.
Princeton will take on 18th-ranked South Carolina Sunday at noon on the second day of games. Penn, who played South Carolina in Friday's second game, will play FDU.
The Tigers improved to 3-1 on the young season, while FDU fell to 1-2-1. Princeton was 6-8-3 a year ago.
Melville's goal came on an assist from Alex Reison with 16:42 gone in the game. The Tigers put the game away when DuBois converted in the second half off a feed from Ryan Rich.
Erik White made four saves for the shutout.
Princeton outshout FDU 11-10.
