FLUSHING, N.Y. - No. 3 seed Harvard won three three-set singles matches and took the doubles point by winning at Nos. 2 and 3 on the way to a 7-0 victory over No. 6 seed Princeton at the ECAC Division I Men's Tennis Invitational Saturday at the National Tennis Center.
Princeton won at No. 1 doubles thanks to an 8-5 victory by Hans Plukas and Andrew Lieu, but that would be the Tigers' only victory of the day. Princeton certainly made it tighter than the final score would appear, however, with matches at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 singles going to three sets.
Plukas won the first set 6-4 at No. 4 singles, while Alex Krueger-Wyman at No. 6 and Lieu at No. 3 each came back to win second sets before falling in the third set. At No. 2 Sratha Saengsuwarn lost the first set in a tiebreak and the second set by a close 6-4 score.
The Tigers will play Cornell tomorrow.
