Tigers Defeat Navy and Johns Hopkins in Men's Water Polo

Princeton, N.J. - The 13th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team ran its record to 10-2 on the season and 4-0 in the CWPA Southern Division with wins Saturday over No. 14 Navy and Johns Hopkins at DeNunzio Pool. John Stover scored a combined six goals to pace the Tigers on the day while Nicholas Seaver scored five times.
Princeton won the opener 8-6 over the team just behind it in the national rankings. After falling behind 1-0 in the first quarter, the Tigers notched five goals in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead at the half. Two more goals in the third quarter pushed Princeton's lead to 8-3 after three quarters. Navy scored three times in the final quarter but could not catch up to the Tigers.
Seaver led the way with three goals in the game, while Zach Beckmann scored twice. Stover was one of three Tigers with a goal each in the game. Scott Syverson and Gant Morgner split the game in the cage, with Syverson making four saves in the first half and Morgner stopping six in the second half.
Princeton made it 2-0 on the day with a 10-8 win over Johns Hopkins later in the afternoon. The Tigers were in control much of the way as they edged the Blue Jays for the second time this season. Stover scored five times in the win with Seaver adding a pair of goals. Syverson made three saves in the first half and Morgner stopped two shots in the second game.
