Roth, Trimble Advance to Consolation Semifinals at Big Green Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - Laura Trimble and Joanna Roth each reached the semifinals of the consolation draw of the "A" singles flight as play continued at the 2005 Big Green Invitational at Dartmouth College Sunday.
Trimble defeated BU's Laura Stiekema in the quarterfinals, splitting sets before winning a 10-5 proset to take the match. Roth defeated Sylvia Yaros of Seton Hall and Yana Sadovaskaya of BU in straight sets, losing just seven games in the two matches, to advance to the semifinals.
Ivana King, who had advanced to the Round of 16 in the "A" singles draw, lost a tough three-setter to Ashley Lipton of Syracuse, splitting sets before falling in a 10-7 proset. King and Trimble also fell to a team from BU in the Round of 16 in the "A" doubles draw.
Kristen Scott won a match in the "B" singles consolation draw Sunday before falling to Dartmouth's Catja Carrell in the quarterfinals.
Play concludes at the Big Green Invitational on Monday.
