Princeton's Matt Care, a freshman midfielder, was named the Ivy League Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week Monday after scoring his first goal of the season in the Tigers' 2-0 win against Cornell Saturday.
Care took a feed from Adrian Melville in the 55th minute, drew the Cornell goalkeeper off his line and scored the game winner for the Tigers, who improved to 4-6-3 overall and 1-2-1 in Ivy League play with the win.
The Newtown, Pa., native, who attended The Hun School, has played in all but one of Princeton's games as a freshman.
Melville, who assisted on Care's goal, was also named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. The senior from Randolph, Mass., scored his fourth goal of the season five minutes after Care's goal.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2, hosting Bucknell at Lourie-Love Field at 7 p.m.
