Box Score
Bucknell goalie Adam Edwards made two saves in the final minute of the second half, including a sprawling stop on a Kyle McHugh shot with 20 seconds left, to help the Bison preserve a 1-0 victory over Princeton in a men's soccer game played at Lourie-Love Field Wednesday night.
McHugh had a close chance against Edwards in the final seconds thanks to a nice pass from Ben Young, but the senior goalie made the stop while falling to his left. Less than a minute earlier, the Tigers (4-7-3) had a chance on a free kick opportunity, but Edwards was also there to save Jame Wunsch's header at the far post.
Bucknell (8-6-3) got the game's lone goal in the 9th minute, taking advantage of a free kick opportunity from well outside the box. Joe Mellott's service found Tim Faneck in between Princeton defenders, and Faneck then headed the ball backwards into the right side of the net.
Princeton's best goal chance besides the final minute came when Alex Reison found Jame Wunsch near the left post in the 52nd minute, but the goal was disallowed due to an offsides ruling.
Princeton goalie Bobby Guelich helped keep his team within one goal in the 78th minute when he stopped Anthony Ferraro's shot near the left post after a long cross. The Tigers had nine shots to Bucknell's seven, and both Edwards and Guelich had three saves. Both teams had two corner kicks.
Princeton saw a three-game unbeaten streak come to an end with the loss, while the Bison clinched an above .500 regular season with one game left on the schedule.
The Tigers play at Penn Saturday night (7:30 p.m.)
