Princeton men's soccer player Darren Spicer has been chosen as one of 54 college seniors that will participate in the adidas MLS Player Combine Jan. 12-15 in Carson, Calif.
Coaching staffs and general managers from all 12 Major League Soccer teams will be in attendance to scout players at the combine, which concludes just five days before the 2006 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia Jan. 20.
Of the 48 players selected in last season's MLS SuperDraft, 39 participated in the 2005 adidas MLS Combine.
Spicer was Princeton's leading scorer for the third straight season in 2005, scoring seven goals and adding three assists for the Tigers. He was also a first-team All-Ivy selection. In 2004, he earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors, scoring a league-high 12 goals, and was also an Academic All-America.
He finished his Princeton career with 26 goals, 10th all-time in school history.
The initial list of players for the 2006 adidas Player Combine was determined by a select panel of Division I college coaches representing all conferences, who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches.
The 2006 adidas MLS Player Combine will separate all players into four teams and feature doubleheaders at The Home Depot Center on the mornings of January 13, 14 and 15.
