CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -Sophomore Alejandro Bras was 4-1-1 in his weapon, as the men's fencing team split an Ivy meet by topping Yale 16-11 but fell to Harvard 14-13. Princeton's record improves to 6-3 on the season.
Against Yale Benjamin Solomon was the leader in the epee after posting a 2-1 record. Junior Owen Cornwall and freshman John Winnerman both went 2-1 in the sabre, while the team of senior Scott Sherman, freshman Douglas Hohensee and Bras all finished 2-1 in the foil.
Competition in the Harvard match was very close. Bras led the foil as he tied in his first bout and won the other two. Hohensee also won two matches.
In the epee, the score went back and forth as both Harvard and Princeton won four bouts a piece. It was senior Soren Thompson who won the final match and claimed a 3-0 record in the battle.
The final weapon is where the Tigers suffered a 7-2 loss to the Crimson. Cornwall and Winnerman secured the two points for Princeton in the sabre.
The Tigers will compete in the IFA Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26 in Providence, R.I.
