Men's Fencing Claims First-Place In The Epee

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Freshman Tommi Hurme of the men's fencing team claimed a gold medal in the epee at the IFA Championship, as Princeton finished third overall in an 11-team field on Saturday.
The team of Hurme and senior Soren Thompson placed third in the epee. Hurme claimed first-place and Thompson finished ninth.
Hurme also qualified for the United States Junior Nation team in the World Championships in Austria after placing fifth in the 2005 National Junior Olympics.
In the sabre, Princeton took a seventh-place finish. Junior Owen Cornwall finished eighth, while teammate Jonathan Winnerman placed 11th.
The Tigers were second overall in the foil. Freshman Douglas Honensee and sophomore Alejandro Bras turned in fourth and 11th place efforts.
Princeton will travel to Durham, N.C. on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 for the NCAA Regionals
