Freshman Christine Kansky had a big win at No. 3 singles, but the Princeton women's tennis team fell to 60th-ranked Maryland 6-1, at the Jadwin Gym tennis courts Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers, who had defeated Syracuse Friday afternoon, fell to 3-3 on the spring season with the loss.
Kansky defeated Marianne Baker at No. 3, winning the first set in a tiebreaker and the second set, 6-4.
Maryland won the doubles point by taking all three matches. Darcy Robertson and Joanna Roth played tough at No. 2 doubles before falling by an 8-4 score to Jennifer Dent and Julia Graca.
Robertson won the first set in singles at No. 2 against Dent, but Dent came back to win the match, 6-2 in the third. Both Joanna Roth, at No. 4, and Laura Trimble, at No. 5, took first sets to the limit before falling in straight sets.
