SAN DIEGO, Calif. - On a rainy day in San Diego, the Princeton men's tennis team began its Spring Break trip to California with a dominating 6-0 victory over 53rd-ranked Purdue Monday afternoon.
The teams played singles first due to the wet conditions, and the doubles weren't needed after the Tigers clinched the match with their first four singles victories.
Darius Craton got Princeton off to a great start at No. 2, defeating Sounak Chatterjee in straight sets, and Sratha Saengsuwarn then lost just three games to David Robinson in a win at No. 3. Hans Plukas defeated Jarred Leibner 6-4 and 6-2 at No. 4, and the Tigers then clinched the match when Shannon Morales beat Matt Zollman at No. 6 in straight sets. Princeton also got wins at No. 5 from Andrew Lieu and No. 1 from Josh Burman, whose match went to three sets.
The Tigers next play on Thursday, facing San Diego at 4:30 EST.
