Women's Tennis Falls to 18th-ranked Cal, 6-1

BERKELEY, Calif. - Playing its highest-ranked opponent so far this season, the Princeton women's tennis team fell to 18th-ranked California, 6-1, in a match played in Berkeley Saturday.
Cal clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 win at No. 1 and an 8-4 victory at No. 2. The Bears then won five singles matches, each coming in straight sets.
Princeton did earn a singles victory at No. 3, where freshman Christine Kansky split sets with Monica Wiesener before winning a tiebreak, 10-7, to take the match.
Sophomore Darcy Robertson played the fifth-ranked player in the country, Suzi Babos, at the No. 1 singles position. Babos won the match by a 6-1, 6-2 score.
