The Princeton women's lacrosse team hopes to begin a new regular-season winning streak, not to mention get off to a good start in Ivy League play, when the Tigers host Columbia Tuesday at Class of 1952 Stadium. Game time is 5 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live over the internet at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
Princeton's 24-game regular-season winning streak and 20-game home winning streak may have come to an end Saturday against Penn State, but the Tigers (3-1) still have some impressive streaks alive heading into Tuesday's game. Princeton has won 14 straight Ivy League games on the 1952 Stadium turf, with its last league loss at home coming to Dartmouth in 2000.
The Tigers have outscored Columbia 118-14 in seven wins over the Lions the past seven years, but this year's Columbia team will enter the game with a 4-0 record. The Lions tied a school record for goals in a game in a 17-9 win at Vermont last Wednesday.
Princeton has lost just one Ivy game to a team other than Dartmouth in the past 11 seasons and hasn't finished with more than one Ivy League loss since 1992.
Senior Elizabeth Pillion scored a career-high six goals for Princeton against Penn State, and Pillion and classmate Lindsey Biles have now combined for 26 goals in Princeton's first four games.
Columbia is the first non-ranked team on Princeton's schedule this season. The Tigers' next two games after Tuesday will likely come against top five teams in Virginia (March 26) and Georgetown (March 30).
