Fencing Finishes Eighth In The NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, Texas - The men's and women's fencing team combined for an overall eight-place finish in the NCAA Championships this past weekend. Princeton finished with 77 total points out of four weapons, the men's and women's epee and the men's and women's foil.
The men's team featured senior Soren Thompson and junior Benjamin Solomon in the men's epee. Thompson placed fifth, while Solomon claimed an eighth-place performance in the field of 24 and tallied 29 points for the Tigers.
Sophomore Alejandro Bras was the third member from Princeton's men's team to compete and finished 18th in the men's foil for nine points.
Junior Jacqueline Leahy led the women's squad with a solo third-place effort in the foil that garnered 19 points.
Sophomore Erin McGarry and junior Kira Hohensee collected 20 points for Princeton and placed sixth and 24th, respectively, in the women's epee.
Princeton was one of 33 teams invited to the George R. Brown Convention Center for the round-robin finals and had six members of its squad competing.
