PRINCETON - After a very strong fall, there were high expectations for the Princeton heavyweight crew. The Tigers took the first step in reaching their own lofty goals with a dominant performance against Navy in the season opener.
The first varsity eight won in 5:49.6 for Princeton, a full five seconds faster than its Navy opponent. Each of the two other varsity races were comfortable wins for the Tigers.
The first freshman boat was the third fastest performer of the morning, finising in 6:01.7. Two years removed from a perfect season for the heavyweight freshman, Princeton hopes it has another dominant top freshman boat this season.
Princeton will travel to Rutgers next weekend.
