Women's Lacrosse Hits the Road for Matchup with No. 14 Cornell

The No. 4 Princeton women's lacrosse team returns to Ivy League play and looks to continue its dominance of Cornell when the Tigers visit the No. 14 Big Red Saturday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y. Game time is 3 p.m.
The Tigers have won 17 straight games against Cornell, 16 consecutive regular-season meetings and an NCAA tournament first-round matchup in 2001.
Princeton (5-2, 1-0), which won an overtime thriller against No. 8 Georgetown at Class of 1952 Stadium Wednesday night, faces its seventh ranked team this season in the No. 14 Big Red (4-2, 1-0). Cornell won a non-conference game against Colgate by a 14-11 score, also on Wednesday night.
The Tigers have won 12 straight Ivy League games, including a 13-4 home win against Columbia March 22. Princeton's last Ivy League loss came on April 9, 2003, at Yale.
Princeton's win over Georgetown was its third victory over a top 10 opponent this year.

Sweet 17 -- Princeton has won 17 straight games against Cornell. The Tigers have won those 17 games by an average margin of more than seven goals per game.
Five More Things You Can't Live Without
Pulling Rank -- Princeton's overtime win against Georgetown Wednesday night was its third win this season against a team ranked in the IWLCA top 10 at the time of the game.
More Pulling Rank -- Saturday's game against No. 14 Cornell is Princeton's seventh game this season (out of eight) against a ranked opponent. Columbia has been Princeton's only unranked opponent.
Quick on the Draw -- The Tigers have 27 draw controls in their last two games compared to just 16 for their opponents.
Changing of the Seasons -- Princeton will now play six of its final nine games against Ivy League opponents. The Tigers have won at least a share of the Ivy title in each of the last four seasons.
Home vs. Road -- The Tigers have averaged better than 12 goals per game in their five home games and 5.5 goals per game in their two road games this season.

Ivy Fact -- The Tigers have lost just one Ivy League game in the past 12 seasons to a team other than Dartmouth (at Yale in 2003).
Another Ivy Fact -- Princeton's win over Columbia March 22 was its 12th straight victory in Ivy League play. Princeton's last Ivy League loss came at Yale in April 2003.
Balancing Act -- Four different Princeton players scored at least two goals against Georgetown, and three players had at least three goals.
Tight Ones -- All seven of Princeton's games this season have featured halftime margins or two goals or less. Three of those games have been tied at halftime (Loyola, Penn State, Georgetown).
Old & Young -- Princeton started nearly as many freshmen (three) as seniors (four) in its win over Georgetown Wednesday night.

Five in the Four -- Princeton has reached the NCAA semifinals five consecutive years (2000-2004). The Tigers also made the semifinals five straight years during the 1990's (1992-96), winning the national title in 1994.
Movin' On Up -- Lindsey Biles is now sixth all-time at Princeton with 141 career goals. Biles needs two goals to pass Kim Smith '02 and move into fifth place.
Near the Top -- Lindsey Biles is on pace to finish second all-time at Princeton in goals behind Cristi Samaras, who scored 189 career goals.
Atop the Ivy -- Lindsey Biles leads the Ivy League with 21 goals and is second in the Ivy League with 25 points.
The Quicker Picker-Upper -- Elizabeth Pillion leads Princeton in draw controls (16) and ranks third on the team in groundballs (16)
She Shoots, She Scores -- Elizabeth Pillion has scored her 15 goals this season on just 30 shots (50%).
How Many Final Fours? -- Elizabeth Pillion went to the NCAA final four with the women's lacrosse team last May and with the Princeton women's soccer team this December.
Miller Time -- Kathleen Miller had two goals in the final 46 seconds of the first half against Georgetown to help the the score at 7-7 at halftime.
More Miller Time -- Kathleen Miller was named the 2004 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after scoring 32 goals as a freshman.
The Stopper -- Sarah Kolodner saved a shot with four seconds left against Georgetown to help Princeton hold on for a win.
More Stopper -- Sarah Kolodner has a 58-7 record as a starter over the past four seasons.
Fresh Face -- Freshmen Katie Lewis-Lamonica had three goals against Georgetown. Lewis-Lamonica is the only Princeton freshman to have started every game.
Iggy Pops -- Ingrid Goldberg had five points against Georgetown (three goals, two assists) after entering the game with five points in Princeton's first six games.
Sing a Song -- Senior attacker Leigh Slonaker sings the national anthem before Princeton home games.
NCAA Facts -- Princeton (2002 and 2003) and Maryland (seven straight from 1995 through 2001) are the only schools to win consecutive National Collegiate or NCAA Division I championships.
