Final Round Rally Give Women's Golf Top Spot at JMU Invitational

Harrisonburg, Va. - The Princeton women's golf team shot a final-round 294 to rally to win the James Madison University Lady Dukes Invitational Golf Tournament Sunday at the Lakeview Golf Club. Princeton had a three-round score of 306-300-294--900 and during the final round edged past host JMU, which finished with a 304-301-297--902.
Princeton trailed JMU by one stroke after Saturday's 36 holes but rallied behind individual co-champion Avery Kiser's two-under-par 70 Sunday. Kiser finished with a 54-hole score of 76-71-70--217 on the 6,046-yard course.
Sharing the individual crown with Kiser was Augusta State's Garrett Phillips, who finished with a 72-71-74--217. The co-winners beat their nearest competitors by seven strokes.
Augusta State was third overall among the 16 teams at 312-301-307--920, and Ohio University fourth at 318-305-302--925.
Taryn Haladay tied for third at 77-74-73-224 and two Tigers tied for 10th overall; Sharla Cloutier (75-79-74-228) and Annika Welander (77-76-75-228). Welander was not part of Princeton's team entry.
Meg Nakamura tied for 16th (78-76-77--231) and Alexis Etow tied for 51st (83-79-78--240).
Princeton will compete next weekend for the Ivy League Championship.
