Cack Ferrell and Claire Filloux each had strong performances in the distance events and Meredith Mante won the pole vault event to lead several strong Princeton performances at the Sam Howell Invitational track meet at Weaver Track & Field Stadium Saturday.
Ferrell dominated the field in NCAA regional qualifying time in the 5,000-meter race, winning by 12 seconds in 16:36.01. Filloux ran the 10,000 meters in ECAC qualifying time, 36:55.28, which was 40 seconds better than the second-place finisher.
Mante, a junior, won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, 5 3/4 inches.
Two other Tigers finished with second-place performances in the field events. Brooke Minor's high jump of five feet, five inches was good for second in that event, while Amy Krilla's javelin throw of 139 feet, one inch was also good for second.
Juliette Poussot had third-place finishes for Princeton in both the 100 meters (12.38) and 200 meters (25.04), while Catha Mullen qualified for the ECAC event with a 4:31.24 race in the 1,500 meters. She was third in the event.
