Wisconsin Holds Off Women's Lightweights; Tigers Claim Silver At IRAs

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Wisconsin women's lightweight crew ended the 2005 crew season with a 3-1 advantage over Princeton, including a win in Saturday's IRA national championship grand final on Cooper River. The Tigers, led by first-year head coach Paul Rassam, topped Radcliffe for the silver medal.
Wisconsin had defeated Princeton at the Windermere Classic and the Eastern Sprints, while the Tigers earned a win over the Badgers at the Knecht Cup. On Saturday, the top-ranked Badgers finished in 6:40.47 to win the championship, while Princeton finished second in 6:44.01. Radcliffe was third in 6:45.65, followed by Georgetown (6:48.12), Stanford (6:59.33) and Ohio State (7:14.77).
