Romeoville, Ill. - Rising sophomore Annika Welander of the Princeton women's golf team, a 19-year-old amateur, outlasted 22-year LPGA veteran Allison Finney to win the 2005 Illinois Women's Open last weekend. Welander, looking cimply to make the cut in the event, found herself tied for the lead and in the last pairing for the final round, where she topped Finney by a single stroke.

"It will take some time for this all to sink in," said Welander. "This is the biggest tournament I've ever won. It was a great experience."
