The Princeton men's soccer team continues the non-conference portion of its schedule Wednesday afternoon when it travels to West Philadelphia for a matchup with Drexel. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Drexel Field.
After opening the year with four games in a 17-day span, the Tigers' schedule gets a bit busier beginning Wednesday. The Drexel game is the first of four games within a week-and-a-half stretch for Princeton, including games next week against local rival Rutgers and the Ivy League opener at Dartmouth next weekend. Including Saturday's game on Long Island against Adelphi, three of those four games are on the road.
Princeton (1-3) defeated the Dragons by a 3-0 score at Lourie-Love Field last season. Drexel (1-3-1) is winless in its last four games after opening the season with a win over Pittsburgh Sept. 2.
The Tigers played well at their own Princeton Invitational this past weekend against a pair of teams ranked in the top 10 in the NSCAA poll, but came out on the short end of two one-goal decisions. Princeton fell 2-1 to No. 7 Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday before losing a tight 1-0 decision on a late goal to No. 9 Akron.
Drexel has played just one game outside of the Philadelphia area, a 5-0 loss at American Sept. 11. That result came just two days after the Tigers had defeated American 2-1 for their first win of the 2005 season.
Princeton goalie Bobby Guelich was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday after a strong performance against Akron a day earlier. Guelich had a season-high six saves, including several of the diving variety, against an Akron team that came into the game with 26 goals in just five games.
Spicer scored two goals in the win over the Dragons at Lourie-Love Field last season. His goal against FDU was the 20th of his career, moving him into the top 10 all-time at Princeton in goals.
