Princeton senior men's soccer player Darren Spicer has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two Princeton road victories last week.
Spicer, the 2004 Ivy League Player of the Year, scored the game winner in the 7th minute of overtime in Princeton's 1-0 victory at Adelphi on Saturday. Earlier in the week, at Drexel, the Diamond Bar, Calif., native scored goals in the 15th and 47th minutes to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 win over the Dragons.
His three goals last week gave him 23 career goals, moving him into 10th place all-time in that category at Princeton. He currently leads the Tigers and ranks second in the Ivy League with four goals and nine points.
The Tigers (3-3) host Rutgers Wednesday night at Lourie-Love Field in the continuation of the longest-running rivalry in collegiate men's soccer. Princeton has not defeated the Scarlet Knights since the 1994 season.
