Mullen, Argyros Win Events at Ivy League/Big East Meet

NEW YORK - Caroline Mullen won the 3,000 meters for Princeton and Christina Argyros took the high jump event as the Tigers competed in the Ivy League/Big East meet Friday night at the 168th Street Armory in New York City.
The meet featured Cornell, Penn and Princeton of the Ivy League meeting Connecticut, Rutgers and Seton Hall from the Big East.
Mullen simply dominated the 3,000 meters with a winning time of 9:40.60, almost 19 seconds better than second-place Stacy Kim of Penn. Jen Johnson finished third in that race for the Tigers in 10:04.76.
In the high jump, Argyros was the winner with a leap of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches). Abby Campbell also scored for Princeton with a jump of 1.55 meters (5 foot, 1 inch).
Princeton also won the pole vault event on Friday, with Jessica Kloss and Courtney Regan tying for the top spot. Each vaulted 3.60 meters (11 feet, 9 3/4 inches).
In other distance events, Heather Iatauro finished in third place in the 1,000 meters, running the five laps in 2:55.35. In middle distance, Liz Bergold and Suzanne Andrews finished 2-3 in the 800 meters, each finishing below 2:18 for the four laps. Andrews also finished second in the mile earlier in the night, besting the five-minute mark.
Claire Filloux finished third in the 5,000 meters for Princeton, running the 25 laps in 18:06.62.
