Women's Golf Claims Back-to-Back Event Wins with Yale Fall Intercollegiate
October 01, 2006 | Women's Golf
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- By picking up five shots on Harvard over Sunday's second and final round, the Princeton women's golf team claimed back-to-back event victories with a two-shot win over the Crimson at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate. Junior Annika Welander also won her second straight event after taking the Princeton Invitational last week for her first collegiate event win.
Princeton has topped Harvard in both meets this year. The Tigers ended Saturday's first round at Yale three shots back of Harvard before every Princeton golfer beat her first round score Sunday.
Welander shot a 76 Saturday and an even-par 70 Sunday for the low round of the tournament to finish at +6, alone in first place. Freshman Michelle Grilli was two shots behind her, bettering her 77 Saturday with a 71 in round two to finish alone in second place at +8. Sharla Cloutier improved from a 77 to a 76 to tie for seventh at +13. Marlowe Boukis tied for 10th with a 79 and 76 (+15), while Susannah Aboff tied for 15th with her 79 and 78 (+17).
