Saiontz Wins Two More Matches, Advances to ITA Northeast Regional Semifinals

Princeton freshman Melissa Saiontz defeated Boston College's Lana Krasnopolsky in three sets Monday afternoon at Dartmouth's Boss Tennis Center to advance to the semifinal round of the ITA Northeast Regional.
Saiontz, the No. 7 seed in the draw, fell behind 2-5 in the first set before coming back to force a tiebreaker, which she won by a 7-5 score. After Krasnopolsky won the second set 6-4, Saiontz rebounded to in the third set by a 6-1 score.
Should the Princeton freshman reach Tuesday's final with a semifinal win, she will qualify for next weekend's ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship at the Racquet Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. The top two finishers from each of nine ITA regional events qualifies for the national tournament Nov. 2-5.
In the Round of 16 earlier in the day, Saiontz defeated Andrea Novaceanu of Buffalo by scores of 6-0 and 7-5. She also reached the Round of 16 in doubles with partner Ivana King earlier in the weekend.
